CAIRO – 12 February 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday a phone call from King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, as they emphasized the strength and solidarity of the two brotherly countries’ relations.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the call stressed the two countries’ commitment to joint coordination on regional issues to serve the interests of both the Egyptian and Jordanian peoples, and support the broader interests of all Arab nations.

The call focused significantly on the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The two leaders reaffirmed the unified positions of Egypt and Jordan, including the crucial necessity to fully implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, continue the release of hostages and detainees, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid in order to alleviate the severe humanitarian suffering in the sector.

President Sisi and King Abdullah II also reiterated the imperative to immediately start the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing the Palestinian people from their land.

Furthermore, they stressed the necessity to stop the practices carried out by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinians in the West Bank.

President Sisi and Jordan’s King expressed their commitment to close cooperation with U.S. President Donald Trump in the pursuit of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

The two leaders acknowledged President Trump’s leadership in working towards the long-awaited goal of establishing a Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. They also affirmed the importance of ensuring peaceful coexistence among all peoples in the region.

The two leaders reviewed ways to strengthen coordination and consultations among Arab states, as well as preparations for the emergency Arab summit scheduled to take place in Egypt on February 27, aimed to fulfill the aspirations of the peoples of the region for peace, stability, and prosperity.
