Egypt’s Sisi, Tunisian counterpart reject forced displacement out of Gaza

CAIRO – 11 March 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied. They tackled the bilateral relation and affirmed their categorical rejection of the displacement of the Palestinians from their land and the liquidation of the Palestinian cause.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the two Presidents reviewed bilateral relations and commended their progress across an array of fields. President El-Sisi and the Tunisian President affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas, particularly in the economic and commercial sectors. The two leaders expressed their interest to explore broader prospects of joint action in all spheres of mutual concern so as to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

President El-Sisi and Tunisian President Saied exchanged views regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. They reviewed Egypt's efforts to solidify the ceasefire agreement and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid. 

The Tunisian President praised the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, which was prepared by Egypt, and expressed his country's support for the plan, which paves the way for the initiation of reconstruction without displacing the Palestinians. The two Presidents reaffirmed their categorical rejection of the displacement of the Palestinians from their land and the liquidation of the Palestinian cause. They stressed that the establishment of a Palestinian state, along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.

The call also addressed the situation in Libya and Syria. The two Presidents reiterated their commitment to the stability, unity, and sovereignty of the two countries over their entire territories, and to the safety of the two peoples from the threats of conflict and division.
