CAIRO – 9 May 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi left Moscow on Friday heading for Cairo after attending the Victory Day celebrations per invitation from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
President Sisi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of celebrations, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in Moscow.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President Sisi and President Putin held an expanded session of talks attended by delegations from both countries.
President Putin began by expressing appreciation for President Sisi’s participation in this year’s celebration, which demonstrates the deep-rooted, solid and historical relations between the two friendly countries and peoples.
President Sisi congratulated President Putin and the Russian people on the occasion of Victory Day.
The President commended Egypt’s strategic relations with Russia, which are grounded in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two countries in 2018.
President Sisi attended on Thursday a banquet hosted by Russian President Putin for the heads of state and foreign delegations who are in Moscow to participate in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
On Friday, President Sisi attended the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, held at Red Square in Moscow.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with several leaders and heads of state, were present.
President Sisi later attended a luncheon hosted by President Putin in honor of the attending leaders and presidents.
