CAIRO – 16 May 2025: Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt Angelina Eichhorst said a ministerial meeting between the EU and African Union will be held in Brussels on May 21 with the participation of Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
Eichhorst’s remarks came Friday during a roundtable meeting attended by her accompanying delegation who concluded their 4-day visit to Alexandria governorate.
The Brussels ministerial meeting will be chaired by Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
It will be preceded by a meeting of the council of European foreign affairs and defense ministers.
The council is set to discuss a number of important issues, particularly the Ukrainian crisis, situation in Syria and negotiations with Turkey, Eichhorst said.
The so-called new European model, which is a form of humanitarian aid systems, will be proposed next week, Eichhorst said, noting that negotiations are underway on ways to deliver humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
She said discussions are underway to disburse the EU €4 billion second tranche for Egypt.
The European diplomat reviewed the negative impacts of the climate change on Alexandria governorate that faces several climate changes.
She also highlighted the main aspects of her visit to Alexandria, where she inspected several projects, noting that the visit was “great and fruitful”.
