Egypt’s FM holds political consultations with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi

CAIRO – 2 June 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs received on Monday, his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi for political consultations.

The two sides’ discussions are expected to be focused on bilateral relations and key regional developments, including Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and maritime security in the Red Sea according to official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ambassador Tamim Khalaf.

Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei announced earlier that Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi will begin a visit to Egypt and Lebanon on Monday and Tuesday.

In a statement published by the Iranian Mehr News Agency, Baghaei said that Araghchi's visit to Egypt and Lebanon is scheduled to focus on discussing bilateral relations and consulting on the latest developments in the region, particularly developments in occupied Palestine, as well as international developments.

The spokesman indicated that during Araghchi’s visits, he is scheduled to meet with high-level Egyptian and Lebanese officials and discuss and exchange views on a range of bilateral and regional issues.
