Madbouly voices Egypt's rejection to regional conflict expansion, reassures citizens of sufficient strategic reserves of commodities

CAIRO - 18 June 2025: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, chaired the weekly cabinet meeting Wednesday to discuss a number of issues and matters.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about the escalating situation and tensions witnessed in the region in recent days, Egypt's position of utter rejection of the expansion of the conflict in the region, and the necessity of halting Israeli military operations on various regional fronts.

 

PM Madbouly emphasized that the continuation of this escalation will have serious consequences for all peoples of the region, without exception, and indeed the entire world.

 

In light of this, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly pointed out that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during his meetings and phone calls with a number of world leaders, emphasized the importance of the international community playing a more effective role in urging regional parties to assume their responsibilities. "He [President Sisi] emphasized that peaceful solutions remain the only means to ensure security and stability in the region," said Mabdouly.

 

Regarding the repercussions of this conflict on domestic affairs, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly reassured citizens of the availability of various commodities in the markets, and that there is a strategic reserve sufficient for several months. He also noted that the government has taken immediate action to discuss the repercussions of the current crisis at various levels, particularly with regard to fuel supplies and increasing the country's stockpile of all essential strategic commodities. In this context, he highlighted the decision he issued to form a "Crisis Committee," headed by him, to monitor the repercussions of the Iranian-Israeli military operations, thus contributing to preparedness for any developments in various sectors.

 

The Prime Minister further confirmed that he will meet regularly with the committee members, noting that its first meeting will be held Wednesday following the Cabinet meeting. He also noted that he is currently intensifying his meetings with various advisory committees to discuss the repercussions of recent events and their impact on various state sectors.

 

In this context, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly also urged citizens to be extremely careful about rationalizing electricity consumption. This is in light of these exceptional circumstances, while emphasizing the government's commitment to supplying power plants with the fuel necessary to operate them efficiently.

 

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that there is no need to worry about the availability of any essential commodity; we have strategic reserves sufficient to meet domestic consumption needs. The government is also monitoring all developments at various levels, and several scenarios are being developed to address these developments. He expressed his hope for the return of stability to the region as soon as possible.
