Working under presidential decree no. 332 of 2025 to pardon some inmates, the specialized committees from the ministry's Community Protection Sector reviewed the inmates' files beforehand to determine their eligibility for release.

According to the ministry, the released individuals had undergone rehabilitation according to modern correctional standards to reintegrate into society.

The ministry emphasized that the policy reflects a broader commitment to maintaining the penal system's humanitarian aspects. It also demonstrates the state's focus on providing a second chance for individuals who demonstrated genuine reform.

The release is part of Egypt's tradition of issuing presidential pardons on national and religious occasions.
