Egypt welcomes statement issued by 28 countries regarding situation in occupied Palestinian territories

CAIRO – 21 July 2025: Egypt welcomed the statement issued on July 21st, 2025, by the Foreign Ministers of 28 countries concerning the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and what it included in terms of a clear call to end the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, as well as a condemnation of Israeli practices in Gaza and the Israeli occupation's prevention of the delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population in the Strip.

Egypt fully supports the position of the countries party to the statement, rejecting the proposal to relocate the Palestinian population to what has been referred to as a "humanitarian city," and their clear stance in opposing the displacement of Palestinians, as it constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. 

Egypt also welcomed the statement's rejection of Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank and of the violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers.

Egypt reiterated its ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, in partnership with Qatar and the United States. 

It stresses the need for the international community to adopt further practical measures to implement the two-state solution and to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4th, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. These measures should include recognizing the State of Palestine and supporting a clear and effective political path to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.

The UK and other 27 countries issued a joint statement condemning the Israeli killing of Palestinians at the aid centers, as the number of the aid victims reached 1,021 martyrs and more than 6,511 injuries since May 27.

The signatories said: “The Israeli government’s aid delivery model is dangerous, fuels instability and deprives Gazans of human dignity.”

They called upon the Israeli occupation government “to immediately lift restrictions on the flow of aid and to urgently enable the UN and humanitarian NGOs to do their life saving work safely and effectively.” 

“The war in Gaza must end now,” they said. The signatories are foreign ministers of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
