Egypt’s PM attends meeting on 30th anniversary of World Conference on Women

CAIRO - 23 September 2025: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended commemorated on Monday the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women on behalf of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

The meeting was held under the theme: "Recommitting, Resourcing, and Accelerating the Implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action to Achieve Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls." 

Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations in New York, was also present at the meeting, which was held in the UN General Assembly Hall.

The meeting is part of the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly under the theme "Better Together: 80 Years and Beyond for Peace, Development, and Human Rights."

The meeting reviewed the progress made since the historic Beijing Conference in 1995 to highlight achievements, best practices, gaps, and ongoing challenges in advancing gender equality globally.

The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action demonstrates the continued international commitment to protecting and promoting women's rights, in conjunction with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly gender equality and women's empowerment.

Egypt participated in the drafting of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. 

A statement by Egypt’s Cabinet highlighted support for enhancing the role and leadership of women in peacemaking and peacekeeping, which is the core of the National Plan on Women, Peace, and Security to support conflict-affected countries in the region.
