Egypt’s FM discusses investment opportunities with French companies' representatives at MEDEF

CAIRO – 2 October 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, began his visit to Paris on Thursday by holding a meeting with representatives of major French companies and investment funds at the headquarters of Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF).

The meeting reflects Egypt’s commitment to push forward the economic development, strengthening economic relations with France, and expanding cooperation with the private sector by exploring new opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty praised the remarkable development witnessed in Egyptian-French relations in recent years, culminating in the elevation of relations to a strategic partnership.

He also noted the successes achieved by French companies operating in Egypt, particularly in national transportation projects, expressing Egypt's aspiration to attract more French investments, especially given that Egypt is the third largest destination for French investments in the Middle East.

The Egyptian Minister also welcomed the outcomes of the recent Economic Forum, held in May under the auspices of the Egyptian and French presidents. The forum highlighted the promising opportunities available to French companies, particularly in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as well as Egypt's significant opportunities in renewable energy, green hydrogen production, transportation, ports, the automotive industry, telecommunications, digitalization, and artificial intelligence.

Minister Abdelatty also reviewed the investment privileges offered by the Egyptian government and the efforts made in recent years to improve the business environment. He also reviewed the extensive economic reforms implemented during the past period.

A discussion took place with representatives of French companies, during which views and opinions were exchanged on the situation in the Middle East and ways to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and France, increase French investments in Egypt, and emphasize the importance of continued coordination and communication to advance the economic partnership between the two countries.
