CAIRO – 3 October 2025: As part of ongoing efforts to attract more Japanese investment to Egypt, Ambassador Ragy El-Etreby, Egypt’s Ambassador to Japan, visited the Kinki Sharyo factory, one of Japan’s largest train car manufacturers. 

 

During the visit, he inspected the production process of the train cars designated for the first phase of Cairo Metro Line 4, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Friday.

 

Ambassador El-Etreby received a detailed briefing from company executives on the progress made in manufacturing the cars, which are scheduled to be delivered to Egypt in the near future.

 

Following the tour, the ambassador held a joint meeting with leaders from Kinki Sharyo and Mitsubishi. The discussions focused on strengthening the existing collaboration between the two companies and Egypt’s Ministry of Transport, within the framework of the Cairo Metro Line 4 project.

 

The meeting also explored ways to expand this cooperation and identify new opportunities for partnership.

 

Ambassador El-Etreby also highlighted recent developments in Egypt’s economic reform program, aimed at creating a more attractive environment for foreign investment. He expressed hope that both companies would consider establishing a direct presence in Egypt’s industrial sector.

 

In response, executives from Kinki Sharyo and Mitsubishi welcomed the current cooperation with Egypt, affirmed their interest in deepening collaboration with relevant Egyptian authorities, and expressed readiness to explore new opportunities within the partnership.
