CAIRO – 31 October 2025: The Cabinet's Media Center said on Friday that the Grand Egyptian Museum has won the Best Project in the World award for 2024 from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
This award recognizes the museum as one of the world's most prominent architectural projects, combining innovation and cutting-edge engineering, thus reinforcing its status as an architectural masterpiece and a leading cultural institution.
The museum is considered one of the most important and greatest achievements of modern Egypt. It was established to be a comprehensive global cultural, civilizational, and entertainment landmark.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is one of the greatest and most unique cultural, civilizational, and tourism projects implemented by Egypt in the modern era. It represents the culmination of the Egyptian state's efforts to protect, preserve, and showcase Egyptian cultural heritage according to the highest international standards.
Located near the Pyramids and the Giza archaeological site, the museum is connected to the road network, and a metro station is being built directly in front of it as part of the fourth metro line currently under construction.
All eyes will be on Cairo from all over the world on November 1, the date of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is considered a new gateway to Egyptian civilization.
One of the museum's most prominent features is the unveiling of the King Tutankhamun Hall, which spans an area of 7,500 square meters and includes more than five thousand artifacts that tell the most intimate details of the life of the child king.
These artifacts reflect Tutankhamun's life from his accession to the throne, through the secrets of the royal tomb, to his immortality in history.
Egypt’s Cabinet also announced that Saturday, November 1, 2025, will be an official paid holiday for all public sector employees nationwide, marking the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
