CAIRO - 1 November 2025: The UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo asserted that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) marks a milestone in Egypt’s ongoing efforts to preserve and celebrate its rich cultural heritage.

In a statement on Saturday, the office described the GEM as one of the most ambitious cultural projects in the world as it embodies Egypt’s deep commitment to safeguarding its past while shaping a forward-looking vision for heritage, education and sustainable development.

UNESCO contributed to supporting the emergence of the GEM as a global hub for culture, science and innovation, the office said.

The museum serves as a bridge between history and modernity, offering new opportunities for intercultural dialogue and reaffirming the power of culture to inspire unity, learning and human creativity.
