Egyptian embassies and consulates around the world held intensive activities on Saturday that coincided with the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The move reflects the global significance of the occasion and Egypt’s unique civilizational standing.

The celebrations drew large turnouts of senior officials, public figures, members of Egyptian communities abroad, citizens of host countries, as well as diplomats, cultural institutions and media representatives.

Missions streamed the opening live, in festive settings showcasing pride in Egypt’s ancient heritage and the international appreciation of the new cultural landmark.

The events come as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' keenness on shedding light on the significance of the museum as a one-of-a-kind institution that reflects the ingenuity of ancient Egyptian civilization and its power to inspire both present and future.

GEM stands as the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single cifvilization: the everlasting civilization of Egypt.

It houses over 57,000 artifacts, including the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time since the discovery of his tomb in 1922.

The historic museum was inaugurated in a grand ceremony attended by nearly 80 official delegations, including 39 led by kings, princes, and heads of state and government.
