CAIRO – 15 November 2025: Heavy rainfall on Friday and into Saturday morning inundated thousands of tents sheltering displaced families in the Gaza Strip, ruining clothes, bedding, and what few possessions remained.
The flooding has added to the daily hardships endured since the Israeli war began on October 7, 2023.
The conflict has left the vast majority of Gaza’s residential buildings either destroyed or severely damaged, forcing many residents into makeshift tents that provide little protection from extreme heat or winter storms.
Meanwhile others remain in unstable homes at risk of collapse.
"Thousands of displaced families are now completely exposed to harsh weather conditions, increasing concerns related to health and protection," said UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric.
