CAIRO – 16 November 2025: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday inaugurated several new maritime stations in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) at East Port Said port, highlighting Egypt’s achievements in key sectors.
The launch ceremony was attended by Keith Svendsen, CEO of APM Terminals, a Maersk company, along with senior Egyptian officials.
El-Sisi, during the event, emphasized that Egypt is now reaping the fruits of progress in ports, railways, roads, transport corridors, and the energy sector.
He also praised the Egyptian people for their resilience in facing challenges and called for continued dedication and effort to achieve further accomplishments for the benefit of current and future generations.
He emphasized that the development work was the product of “shared effort,” stressing Egypt’s strategic advantages, including its geographic location and the Suez Canal’s global significance.
He noted that the implementation of the SCZone faced major obstacles in 2015 but that determination and joint work allowed the state to meet its targets.
He thanked Maersk for honoring its commitments and noted that Egypt looks forward to the company, and other investors operating in the country, expanding their investments.
The president affirmed that the state will provide all necessary facilitation to support that goal, calling for faster completion of projects and the achievement of tangible results.
