CAIRO - 20 November 2025: Egypt and South Korea signed two memorandums of understanding in the fields of culture and education during South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo on Thursday, the Egyptian Presidency said.
El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s strong interest in expanding South Korean companies’ operations and investments across key priority sectors, including ICT and automotive manufacturing, during his meeting with the South Korean leader.
El-Sisi highlighted the investment guarantees, incentives, and competitive advantages offered by the Egyptian market.
He urged expansion of Korean investments in telecommunications and information technology, automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, AI, petrochemicals, and mining, with an emphasis on localizing these industries within Egypt.
“I take this opportunity to invite them (Korean companies) to expand its operations and boost their investments, and I also call on new Korean companies to enter the Egyptian market and take advantage of the promising opportunities it offers,” El-Sisi said.

For his part, the South Korean leader reaffirmed Seoul’s interest in deepening cooperation with Cairo, both at the governmental level and through Korean companies operating in Egypt.
He also praised Egypt’s achievements over the past decade, including the recent inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
President El-Sisi commended the visit, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to strengthening cooperation across economic, investment, cultural, and educational fields.
"Over the years, we have witnessed the development of cooperative and friendly relations between our two countries, based on mutual respect and support for peace, development, and prosperity, reaching the level of a comprehensive cooperative partnership," El-Sisi stressed.
