Five dead, 13 injured in clothing mall fire in Egypt’s Mansoura

CAIRO – 3 December 2025: Five people died and 13 were injured overnight when a fire swept through a four-storey mall in Mansoura city of the northern Egyptian governorate of Dakaliya.

The blaze broke out in a storage facility at the market, causing major material losses in addition to the fatalities.

Among the injured was one of the civil defence personnel who was hurt while responding to the fire, according to reports. Several of the wounded have since been discharged after their conditions stabilised.

 

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and extended condolences to the victims’ families.

He instructed relevant ministries and state bodies to provide immediate support to the families, ensure proper medical care for the injured and expedite efforts to clear the site and restore normal activity in the area.

Madbouly also emphasised the need to step up inspections and safety measures at commercial and other facilities to protect lives and property.

Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy directed that financial assistance be disbursed to the families of the dead and to the injured in coordination with local charities.
