Polling stations closed in 20 constituencies of 1st phase of parliamentary elections

CAIRO – 3 December 2025: Polling stations in most voting centers closed at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday on the first day of runoff voting for the first phase of the House of Representatives elections, conducted for individual seats in 20 constituencies.

Voting continued at several stations where voters were already present before the official closing time.

Election centers hosting these stations were secured, and officials ensured that all voters present were able to cast their ballots.

Counselors from the State Lawsuits Authority and the Administrative Prosecution, serving as heads of the closed stations, recorded the number of ballots cast and the number of unused voting cards.

Once the last voters completed voting, counselors supervised the secure sealing of ballot boxes with coded locks, sealed all doors and windows, and placed official seals.

The polling stations were placed under strict police security and are scheduled to reopen at 9:00 a.m. Thursday for the second day of voting.

The elections cover individual seats in 19 constituencies whose results were annulled in the first round of the first phase, in addition to the runoff in the second constituency of Itsa, Fayyoum governorate.

A total of 1,775 polling stations are operating in 20 constituencies in seven governorates.

The rerun follows the November 18 decision of the National Elections Authority (NEA) to annul elections in these constituencies after identifying violations that compromised the integrity and legitimacy of the vote.

The NEA reported significant voter turnout at many polling stations in the governorates.
