CAIRO - 6 January 2026: Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced that the latest satellite images indicate extremely cold conditions during the early morning hours, with weather turning relatively warm during the daytime across much of the country.
In a statement, the Authority urged citizens not to be misled by the noticeable gap between daytime highs and nighttime lows, stressing the importance of wearing heavy winter clothing, particularly during the early morning and late evening hours.
Today’s weather is expected to be very cold in the early morning, becoming mild during the day, before turning extremely cold again at night. The Authority also warned of the possibility of frost formation on crops in parts of Northern Upper Egypt, Central Sinai, and the Western Desert, posing potential risks to agriculture.
Temperatures in Major Cities
In Greater Cairo, temperatures are forecast as follows:
Cairo: low of 11°C, high of 21°C
New Administrative Capital: low of 9°C, high of 20°C
6th of October City: low of 9°C, high of 20°C
Banha: low of 11°C, high of 21°C
The Meteorological Authority advised residents, especially farmers and those commuting early in the day, to take necessary precautions as the cold spell continues.
