Sisi congratulates Congo’s Nguesso on reelection, discusses regional stability

CAIRO - 29 March 2026: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi congratulated Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso on his reelection in a Sunday phone call, where the two leaders emphasized the necessity of resolving African disputes through peaceful means.

Presidential spokesperson Mohamed el-Shennawy said Sisi noted the election results reflect the Congolese people's confidence in Nguesso’s leadership to continue the country's path toward development and prosperity.

The two presidents discussed several regional and international issues, stressing that settling conflicts peacefully is essential to preserving the sovereignty and resources of African nations.

Sisi expressed Egypt's intention to continue joint work with the Republic of the Congo to strengthen bilateral ties and maintain coordination within regional and international frameworks.

For his part, Nguesso praised the "brotherly bonds" between the two nations and affirmed his commitment to developing cooperation with Egypt across various fields.
