CAIRO - 11 May 2026: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi departs Monday for the Republic of Kenya to participate in the Africa-France Summit, which will be held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on May 11 and 12, 2026.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the summit is being held under the theme "Africa Forward" and aims to strengthen the Africa-France partnership by focusing on the challenges of economic growth, digital transformation, energy, and reform of the international financial system, as well as integrating African priorities within global economic frameworks.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, French President Emmanuel Macron, and leaders from more than 30 African countries are participating in the Africa-France Summit, which began in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Monday. The summit, themed "Africa Forward," aims to explore ways to strengthen trade and economic partnerships between France and African nations.
The spokesperson added that President El-Sisi will deliver Egypt's address during the summit and will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with his fellow African leaders and officials of international organizations on the sidelines of the summit.
The two-day summit is also being attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the Chairperson of the African Union, business leaders, representatives of international financial institutions and development partners, and representatives from the African and French business sectors.
The summit's agenda includes issues of peace and security, activating sustainable finance and reforming the international financial system, energy transitions, green manufacturing, developing the blue economy, infrastructure, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainable agriculture, food security, and health.
The Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the summit, which brings together leaders from France and African countries, business leaders, investors, and development partners, will discuss trade, investment, innovation, climate change, and regional integration.
The Kenyan Foreign Ministry indicated in a statement that the summit will focus on strengthening cooperation between Africa and France and advancing dialogue on investment and trade issues.
