Kuwait says air defenses repel hostile drone attacks

CAIRO – 22 July 2026: The Kuwaiti military announced that its air defenses were repelling hostile drone attacks following Iranian aggression.

The military stated on X that any explosions heard across the area were the result of air defense systems intercepting incoming threats, and it urged the public to strictly adhere to safety and security instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

In a separate development, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Wednesday that it received notice of an incident 70 nautical miles southwest of Al-Shuqaiq along Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast.

The UKMTO stated that a tanker's captain reported being struck by an unidentified projectile, which triggered a fire on board that the crew worked to extinguish.

The agency added that there were no immediate reports of injuries or environmental damage resulting from the incident.
