President El-Sisi, King Abdullah II warn against Israeli extremist right-wing practices

CAIRO – 29 July 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II on Wednesday warned of the dangers posed by extremist right-wing elements’ actions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

During a phone call on Wednesday, they renewed their categorical rejection of Israel's grave escalation in the West Bank, the Presidency said in a statement.

Their warning comes amid escalating attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, including assaults, intimidation, and arson targeting homes, property, and religious sites.

It also follows the recent storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's far-right extremist National Security Minister, accompanied by members of the Knesset and thousands of Israeli settlers, provocative actions that Egypt and other countries have condemned.

The two leaders stressed the need to reach a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian cause in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution.

El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the historic Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The president also stressed the importance Egypt attaches to its continued institutional coordination with Jordan and its commitment to further strengthening that cooperation to address shared regional challenges.

The phone call also addressed the situation in the region after Iranian attacks on Jordan, with El-Sisi affirming support for the Jordanian leadership’s measures to protect the kingdom’s security and sovereignty.
