CAIRO – 29 July 2026: A fire broke out on a floating regasification unit (FSRU) and a floating storage unit (FSU) stationed at Damietta Port on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Petroleum.
On-site firefighting and security teams immediately addressed the situation alongside local authorities, executing the port's emergency rapid-response protocol to bring the blaze under control.
The ministry confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities. Emergency crews and technical authorities remain on site to complete cooling operations and secure both vessels.
An assessment is underway to determine the cause of the fire and evaluate its operational impact.
