President El-Sisi affirms Egypt's full solidarity with Algeria amid wildfires

 

CAIRO – 29 July 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a telephone call on Wednesday with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

 

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Official Spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that at the outset of the call, President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Algeria as it battles wildfires across parts of the country. He emphasized Egypt’s readiness to provide any necessary support to the brotherly Algerian people during this crisis.

 

The President extended his sincere condolences for the victims of the fires and offered the Egyptian people's wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

 

Highlighting the deep historical ties uniting the two nations and their peoples, President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for the recent momentum in bilateral cooperation. He stressed the importance of building on these gains and implementing all joint agreements, particularly the outcomes of the Higher Joint Committee meeting held in Cairo in November 2025.

 

For his part, President Tebboune expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for Egypt’s supportive stance—underlining that such solidarity from the Egyptian leadership and people is both expected and customary.

 

President Tebboune outlined the intensive efforts underway by Algerian authorities to contain the blazes, manage their aftermath, and ensure the safety of citizens and property. He also lauded the steady growth of Egyptian-Algerian relations, pointing to significant prospects for expanding cooperation across various fields by leveraging both nations' substantial resources and human potential.
