Egypt’s Sisi, Libya’s Dbeibeh discuss energy cooperation

CAIRO - 30 July 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to discuss enhancing bilateral relations, reconstruction projects, and resolving regional disputes through peaceful dialogue.

In a Thursday statement, President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s fixed commitment to Libya’s security, stability, and territorial integrity.

Sisi emphasized boosting joint cooperation in promising sectors, particularly electricity, energy, infrastructure, and reconstruction, alongside increasing trade and investment flows between the two nations.

For his part, Dbeibeh commended Egypt’s steadfast support for Libyan stability, noting that the historic ties between the two neighboring countries remain pivotal for regional development.

Both sides agreed to intensify bilateral consultation to address shared security and economic challenges, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolve regional conflicts and maintain regional peace.

The talks were attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, and General Intelligence Service Chief Hassan Rashad.

From the Libyan side, National Security Advisor Ibrahim Dbeibeh and Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi took part in the meeting.
