FM affirms Egypt's keenness to bolster strategic partnership with Kenya

CAIRO - 31 July 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the remarkable growth in Egyptian-Kenyan relations under the strategic partnership between the two countries, which he said was crowned by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Kenya last May.

He affirmed Egypt's keenness to build on the current momentum in bilateral relations and strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation.

Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting with Kenyan Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on the sidelines of the Second Extraordinary Summit of Troop-Contributing Countries to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), held in Uganda's Kampala.

The foreign minister expressed Egypt's aspiration to expand cooperation with Kenya across various fields, particularly in irrigation, water resource management, infrastructure, ports, roads, bridges, transport, logistics, industrial and special economic zones.

He also emphasized the importance of encouraging Egyptian companies to capitalize on the promising investment opportunities in the Kenyan market, in light of their accumulated expertise in implementing development projects across Africa.

The meeting also addressed developments in the Horn of Africa and the African continent.

The two sides underscored the importance of continuing to work with international partners to mobilize adequate and sustainable funding for the AUSSOM, as well as maintaining coordination and consultations between the two countries within the African Union and regional and international forums, in a manner that promotes peace, security and stability and supports development and integration efforts across Africa.
