CAIRO - 1 August 2026: Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, affirmed Saturday the full Arab support for the Lebanese government's position in condemning the recent Israeli violations and attacks on southern Lebanon, describing them as "shameful and unacceptable."

He specifically condemned the bombings that targeted infrastructure and archaeological sites listed as World Heritage sites, in flagrant violation of international law.

He emphasized the Arab League's solidarity with Lebanon in preserving its security, stability, and sovereignty.

Call for Urgent International Action

Fahmy explained that the continued Israeli attacks threaten to derail the ongoing negotiation process and necessitate immediate action from the international community, particularly the United States, as one of the sponsors of the negotiations, to halt these violations and ensure respect for Lebanese sovereignty.

Emphasis on Implementing Resolution 1701

The Secretary-General stressed the necessity of full adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, considering it a fundamental international guarantee for preserving Lebanon's sovereign rights and preventing any escalation that could threaten security and stability in the region.
