Cairo to host four-way meeting of mediators to ensure implementation of Gaza agreement

CAIRO – 1 August 2026: Cairo will soon host a meeting bringing together mediators from Egypt, the United States, Qatar, and Turkey to reaffirm all parties’ commitment to implementing the terms of the Gaza agreement, sources told Al Qahera News.

The sources said Egypt is intensifying its contacts and diplomatic efforts with the concerned parties to discuss mechanisms for implementing the agreement. They added that Hamas and other Palestinian factions have been responding positively to Egyptian efforts and the role of the mediators.

The sources noted that successful implementation of the agreement would pave the way for launching early recovery programs and resuming the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip. This would include rebuilding damaged infrastructure, restoring educational services, and ensuring the operation of essential facilities and basic services.

The developments follow US President Donald Trump's announcement that the Peace Council had reached what he described as a historic agreement to fully disarm Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, calling it a "huge step towards achieving lasting peace and security."

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said the agreement represents a decisive step toward establishing governance in Gaza under a new Palestinian administration working closely with the Peace Council to support the Palestinian people. He added that Israel would, in his words, receive the security it "deserves," as Gaza would no longer be used as a base for launching attacks.

Trump said the implementation of the 20-point plan would proceed in carefully coordinated stages, adding that once disarmament is completed, Israeli forces would withdraw and the International Stabilization Force would work alongside a new Palestinian police force to assume responsibility for Gaza’s security.

The US president also thanked the mediators — Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey — for what he described as their important efforts to help ensure that Gaza comes under the administration of a new Palestinian government serving its people.
