CAIRO – 3 August 2026: Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, held a telephone call with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, to discuss regional developments and strategies for supporting security and stability in the Middle East.
Both sides emphasized the importance of addressing regional crises and challenges through diplomatic means, prioritizing dialogue as the most effective path toward achieving and maintaining lasting stability.
They stressed the need to revitalize intra-Arab relations and strengthen collective cooperation to protect the region and preserve the integrity of the nation-state as the cornerstone of security.
Secretary-General Fahmy and the Iraqi Foreign Minister agreed to maintain close coordination and communication. They committed to utilizing various diplomatic channels to serve Arab causes and to modernize the mechanisms of the Arab League, enhancing its ability to confront emerging challenges across the Arab world.
