et guide: Advantages of smart radars on roads to combat traffic violations

CAIRO - 3 August 2026: The Traffic Department is deploying smart radars on roads to enforce speed limits and prevent reckless driving.

 

This aims to ensure citizens adhere to traffic rules and etiquette, including wearing seatbelts and driving safely.

 

It also prevents parking on the sides of the road to alleviate traffic congestion and ensure public safety, thus reducing the risk of accidents.

 

 

 

The smart radar records violations related to vehicle speed and driver violations, which are then published by the Traffic Department on highways.

 

The new robotic radar system in Egypt operates using the same technology as traditional fixed radars, but with the added advantage of mobility, allowing for coverage of multiple areas.

 

This mobile radar is capable of detecting all types of traffic violations, from speeding and not wearing seatbelts to using a mobile phone while driving.

 

The Traffic Department equipped the devices with advanced technologies that enable them to detect more than 10 types of violations, including failure to maintain a safe distance, improper overtaking, stopping in unauthorized places, and driving in the wrong direction.

 

The device also has software capabilities that allow it to communicate with traffic databases to verify the validity of licenses. The deployment of the robot to detect violations has begun on the Alexandria Desert Road.
