FM affirms to El-Enany Egypt's commitment to continued close cooperation with UNESCO

CAIRO - 4 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad Dr. Badr Abdelatty, affirmed Egypt's commitment to continuing close cooperation with UNESCO during his meeting Tuesday with Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

 

This commitment stems from Egypt's belief in the importance of investing in education and culture as fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable development.

 

 

Discussions on enhancing cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO

 

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen existing cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO, contributing to the achievement of the state's goals for sustainable development and the advancement of educational, scientific, and cultural systems.

 

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty expressed appreciation for UNESCO's pivotal role in supporting cultural and human heritage and enhancing the quality of education, particularly in light of the growing challenges facing the region and the world.

 

The Foreign Minister also emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting UNESCO's efforts in promoting multilateral action and fostering dialogue among civilizations and cultures.

 

Cooperation in Heritage Protection and Education Development

 

The meeting addressed ways to support joint projects in the fields of cultural heritage protection, enhancing the use of technology and developing educational systems, and supporting youth empowerment and capacity-building programs.

 

It also reviewed national efforts to preserve archaeological and heritage sites in Egypt and develop cultural infrastructure, reflecting the depth of Egyptian civilization and its contribution to human heritage.

 

Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and UNESCO to support the priorities of the African continent in the fields of education, culture, and science.

 

This coordination aims to contribute to building African national capacities, enhancing the protection and preservation of African cultural heritage, and leveraging technology and innovation to develop educational systems, thereby promoting regional integration and achieving the continent's sustainable development priorities.

 

For his part, Dr. Khaled El-Enany expressed his appreciation for Egypt's role as an active partner in supporting the organization's agenda, praising its efforts in the fields of education, culture, and science.

 

UNESCO affirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt in various areas of common interest, in order to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, consolidating the principles of dialogue among civilizations, and supporting the values ​​of peace and understanding at the regional and international levels.
