Egypt's FM Badr Abdelatty congratulates Venezuela's new Foreign Minister

CAIRO - 4 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad Dr. Badr Abdelatty made a phone call Tuesday to Félix Plasencia, Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, during which he congratulated his Venezuelan counterpart on assuming his post and conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez.

 

Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's full solidarity, leadership, government, and people, with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the two recent earthquakes and the resulting human and material losses.

 

He also emphasized that the Egyptian humanitarian aid, which arrived in Venezuela on Monday, under the directives of the President, reflects Egypt's commitment to standing with the Venezuelan people during this critical humanitarian situation and embodies the depth of the historical relations that have bound the two countries for more than seventy-five years.

 

He added that coordination will take place with the Venezuelan side to monitor its humanitarian needs in the coming period and to explore additional support that can be provided to help Venezuela overcome the effects of this disaster.

 

 

Strengthening Cooperation Between Egypt and Venezuela

 

The two ministers also affirmed their commitment to further intensifying bilateral cooperation and elevating relations between the two countries in various fields, reflecting the deep historical ties that bind the two peoples.

 

The Foreign Minister expressed interest in developing bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly economic and investment sectors, emphasizing Egypt's readiness to contribute to reconstruction efforts following the two earthquakes by leveraging the accumulated expertise of Egyptian companies in implementing infrastructure and reconstruction projects.

 

The call also addressed regional and international developments, with Minister Abdelatty briefing his Venezuelan counterpart on Egypt's intensive efforts and contacts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and promote political and diplomatic solutions to crises.

 

For his part, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister reviewed developments in Latin America, with the two ministers exchanging views and assessments on the situation in their respective regions. They emphasized that there are no military solutions to conflicts and crises, and that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way to achieve security and stability.

 

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister expressed his deep appreciation for the Egyptian humanitarian aid that arrived in Venezuela, commending Egypt's supportive stance and its solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of the aftermath of the two earthquakes.
