Heatwave breaks: EMA reveals expected temperatures

CAIRO - 4 August 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) revealed that the latest satellite images indicate a break in the heatwave and a slight decrease in temperatures across northern Egypt, extending to Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt.

 

Dr. Mahmoud Shaheen, Director General of the Weather Hazard Forecasting and Early Warning Department, revealed the following maximum temperatures in the shade (expected and perceived):

 

Greater Cairo: High 35°C, Perceived 37°C

 

Lower Egypt: High 34°C, Perceived 36°C

 

Northwest Coast: High 31°C, Perceived 34°C

 

Northeast Coast: High 32°C, Perceived 36°C

 

Upper Egypt (North): High 38°C, Perceived 40°C

 

Southern Egypt (South): High 45°C, Perceived 46°C

 

 

Weather Forecast:

 

Warm and humid conditions are expected in the early morning, becoming hot and humid during the day across northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo.

 

Very hot conditions are expected in southern Egypt, with warm and humid conditions prevailing at night across most of the country.

 

Over the past weeks, Egypt has witnessed scorching heat wave that drove the temperatures high, hitting 46°C in Upper Egypt, and 43°C in Cairo.
