FM: Iraq's stability vital for Arab, Egyptian national security

CAIRO – 5 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed Wednesday, August 5, 2026,  that Iraq's stability is a fundamental pillar of Arab and Egyptian national security.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on the sidelines of the "Arab Ministerial Committee Charged with International Action to Confront Illegal Israeli Policies and Measures in Occupied Jerusalem" in Amman, Jordan.

Highlighting deep Egyptian-Iraqi relations, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's desire to enhance cooperation across various fields and hold the fourth session of the joint Egyptian-Iraqi Higher Committee in Cairo in 2027.

He reiterated Egypt's firm support for Iraq's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and rejection of foreign interference, while backing Iraqi state institutions against political, economic, and security challenges.

The two ministers discussed the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, describing it as a promising framework for regional integration leveraging the three nations' human and economic capacities.

They stressed continuing to build on past achievements to meet their peoples' aspirations for shared development and prosperity.
