CAIRO – 5 August 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty met on Wednesday with Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman, Jordan.

Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, emphasizing a complete rejection of all illegal Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories. He highlighted attempts at annexation, forced displacement, ongoing violations in East Jerusalem, and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites that undermine the historical and legal status quo.

The meeting also addressed developments in the Gaza Strip following the announcement of the roadmap to complete the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan. Abdelatty stressed the importance of adhering to all roadmap requirements and ensuring full access for humanitarian aid to pave the way for the plan's next phase—ultimately leading to an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
