El-Sisi condemns Iranian attacks on Bahrain, says its security integral to Egypt’s national security

CAIRO – 6 August 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt's support for Bahrain and all measures it takes to safeguard its security and stability, condemning the Iranian attacks that targeted Bahraini territory.

He made the remarks as he held talks with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the presidential palace in New Alamein on Thursday, where they discussed bilateral relations and ongoing regional tensions.

El-Sisi stressed that Bahrain's security is an integral part of Egypt's national security, a position King Hamad welcomed, according to a statement by the Presidency.

The Bahraini king expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's support for Bahrain's security and stability, as well as the measures it takes to protect its people amid the current regional circumstances.

Meanwhile, King Hamad wished Egypt continued progress and prosperity and reaffirmed Bahrain's full solidarity with Egypt and support for all measures it takes to preserve its security and stability.

El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the king's remarks.

King Hamad stressed the importance of continued coordination between the two countries to address the challenges facing Arab states, avoid further escalation, and promote stability across the Middle East.

The two leaders underscored the need to resolve regional crises through dialogue and peaceful means, while intensifying efforts to prevent escalation and bring ongoing wars and conflicts to an end.

Palestinian Cause

The discussions also addressed the Palestinian cause.

They stressed the need for all parties to commit to implementing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, including ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and creating conditions for early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

They reaffirmed support for a comprehensive and just resolution to the Palestinian cause based on international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Bilateral Relations

The two leaders held the talks during a working luncheon hosted in honor of the Bahraini king and the accompanying delegation, attended by senior officials from both countries.

El-Sisi praised the steady progress in Egyptian-Bahraini relations and stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade and investment sectors.

He also emphasized the need to deepen strategic consultations and political coordination between the two countries to help preserve regional peace and stability and build on their shared positions on regional issues.

King Hamad expressed his appreciation to El-Sisi for the warm reception and hospitality, welcoming the tangible progress achieved in bilateral relations in recent years.

He reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to advancing relations with Egypt, reflecting the firm brotherhood between the two countries at both the official and popular levels.

The two leaders also underscored the importance of continuing to develop bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of both peoples and supports their shared development goals.
