Egyptian-Chadian business forum held to enhance economic partnership

CAIRO – 7 August 2026: The Egyptian-Chadian Business Forum took place on Thursday on the sidelines of the fourth session of the Joint Committee between the two countries in N'Djamena, Chad's capital.

The forum witnessed high-level participation from both nations, including ministers, senior officials, heads of chambers of commerce, business federations, and private sector leaders.

The Egyptian delegation featured Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad; Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport; Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population; Dr. Abdel-Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Acting Minister of Culture; and Captain Sameh Mohamed Fawzy, Head of the Civil Aviation Authority. Members of Parliament and business leaders were also present, including MPs Dr. Sherif El-Gebaly, Effat El-Sadat, and Islam Fawzy El-Telwany.

The Chadian delegation included Dr. Abdallah Saber Fadl, Minister of Foreign Affairs; the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training; the Minister of Public Health and Prevention; the Minister of Tourism Development, Culture, and Handicrafts; the Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation, and Meteorology; and the Minister of Infrastructure, Rural Development, and Road Maintenance, alongside key Chadian business executives.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized that the forum reflects a shared commitment to converting strong political relations into tangible projects, investments, and job opportunities. Describing the private sector as the primary driver of development, he highlighted the forum as a pivotal platform to turn political consensus into concrete economic partnerships. He also invited the Chadian business community to attend the El Alamein-Africa Business Forum, scheduled for October 4 in El Alamein on the sidelines of the African Union's Mid-Year Coordination Summit.

Abdelatty noted the remarkable growth in bilateral relations, emphasizing that Egypt views Chad as a strategic partner and a pivotal nation in Central Africa and the Sahel region due to its natural resources and geographic position. He stated that the broad Egyptian economic representation signals a commitment to a long-term development partnership built on investment, production, knowledge transfer, and capacity building.

Furthermore, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's aspiration to boost trade and launch joint projects in agriculture, livestock, renewable energy, healthcare, education, irrigation, logistics, and digital transformation.

He urged Chadian investors to explore opportunities in Egypt—specifically within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, industrial hubs, and logistics centers. Abdelatty pointed to the proposed land route linking Egypt, Libya, and Chad, along with expanded air connectivity, as crucial projects to drive integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He concluded by praising the signing of several memoranda of understanding during the Joint Committee session to expand bilateral trade.
