Military production minister urges faster progress on 'Decent Life' projects

CAIRO – 7 August 2026: Salah Soliman Gambalat, Minister of State for Military Production, emphasized that projects under the presidential initiative "Decent Life" (Haya Karima) remain a top state priority, receiving direct follow-up from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi due to their vital role in enhancing the quality of life and improving basic services for citizens.

The minister's remarks came during a meeting held at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with chairpersons of affiliated companies involved in executing the initiative’s projects across several governorates.

The meeting reviewed the executive progress of ongoing projects, completion percentages, and timelines for remaining works, aligned with presidential directives to accelerate execution and ensure rapid operational readiness.

Minister Gambalat highlighted that "Decent Life" represents the largest development project in Egyptian history, reflecting the political leadership's vision for sustainable rural development.

He noted that the ministry contributes to the initiative through its manufacturing ecosystem, supplying water pumps, power generators of varying capacities, and electrical control panels. This strategy aims to maximize the use of domestic manufacturing capabilities, boost local content, reduce the import bill, and yield economic savings for the state.

While acknowledging recent progress, the minister stressed the need to double efforts to finalize all remaining works. He directed continuous coordination with relevant entities to resolve operational bottlenecks immediately.

Gambalat firmly warned that there would be no tolerance for non-compliant contracting firms, stating that necessary legal actions—including contract terminations and reassigning projects to capable entities—will be taken against those who fail to meet deadlines and technical standards. Conversely, he affirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting contractors facing genuine operational hurdles to ensure high-quality completion.

In closing, the minister ordered rigorous field inspections across work sites, calling for intensified coordination with executive and consultative bodies to bring projects online as scheduled.
