CAIRO – 9 August 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned Sunday of heightened wave activity along parts of Egypt’s northern coast, with waves expected to reach 1.5 to 2 meters.
The authority said winds are active in parts of the coastal areas of Matrouh, El Alamein, Alexandria, Baltim and Gamasa, urging beachgoers to follow safety instructions.
High waves and strong sea currents on Saturday prompted Alexandria authorities to raise the red flag at all beaches in the western district of Al-Agami, prohibiting swimming to protect beachgoers.
