Egyptian Amb. to Ramallah meets with Palestinian PM to discuss latest developments

CAIRO - 10 August 2026: Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ramallah, Ihab Suleiman, met with Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, and Farsin Aghabekian Shahin, the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Monday.

 

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.

 

According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Suleiman offered his condolences on the death of the Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo, Diab al-Louh, emphasizing the deep-rooted and historical fraternal ties between Egypt and Palestine.

 

He affirmed that Egypt's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people remains steadfast and unwavering, noting that Egypt will continue its efforts at all levels to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

 

The meeting addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, with the Egyptian Ambassador emphasizing the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire, implementing the roadmap for transitioning to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, and implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

 

This would enable the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out its temporary duties from within the Strip, ultimately empowering the Palestinian National Authority to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank after the transitional phase concludes.

 

This would support relief efforts, early recovery, and reconstruction, and contribute to improving the humanitarian situation.

 

 

Egypt condemns escalating settler violence

 

Ambassador Ihab Suleiman also reiterated Egypt's condemnation of the escalating settler violence against Palestinian civilians, the continued settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the financial blockade imposed on the Palestinian Authority.

 

He stressed that these practices and measures contribute to fueling the cycle of violence and instability, and undermine the prospects for achieving peace, a two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

 

For their part, the Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed their appreciation for the role played by Ambassador Ihab Suleiman during his tenure in Ramallah, noting his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and developing mechanisms for joint coordination between the two brotherly countries.

 

They also commended Egypt's pivotal role in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation in the coming period, praising Egypt's tireless efforts to support the Palestinian people and improve the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories.
