Egypt welcomes direct Russian flights to Borg El Arab, Alamein airports

CAIRO – 11 August 2026: Egypt on Tuesday welcomed Russia’s decision to launch direct flights to Borg El Arab and Alamein international airports, saying the move would boost tourism and strengthen air connectivity between the two countries.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the new routes will offer Russian tourists easier access to Mediterranean destinations, including Alexandria, the North Coast and Alamein.

The ministry said the move reflects growing Egyptian-Russian cooperation in transport and aviation and responds to rising demand for direct flights between the two countries.
