Egypt reaffirms full support for GCC states’ measures to protect security, stability

CAIRO – 12 August 2026: Egypt on Tuesday reaffirmed its full support for measures taken by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states to protect their security, stability and peoples’ resources.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with GCC Secretary-General Jassem Albudaiwi, underscoring Egypt’s steadfast support for the security and stability of the Gulf states and expressing Egypt’s solidarity with them.

He stressed that the security of GCC states is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

Abdelatty also praised Gulf efforts to promote de-escalation and strengthen security and stability in the region.

 

He stressed the importance of continued close coordination between Egypt and the GCC to help end military escalation and address the concerns of the various parties.

Albudaiwi, for his part, praised Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting security and stability in the region and its continued efforts to reduce escalation, resolve crises and promote joint Arab action.

He reaffirmed the GCC’s commitment to further developing its relations with Egypt and strengthening consultation with Cairo on issues of mutual concern.

 

The Egyptian minister also highlighted the strong fraternal ties between Egypt and the GCC states.

He noted the significant development in institutional relations since the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations in 2022 and adopted the Joint Action Plan for 2024-2028 last year.

 

Abdelatty also welcomed the convening of the first Egypt-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum held in Cairo in November 2025, stressing the importance of building on the momentum achieved, particularly in renewable energy, petrochemicals, digital economy and AI, as well as pharmaceuticals.
