CAIRO - 12 August 2026: Minister of Civil Aviation Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, met at the Ministry's headquarters with Wilmer Omar Barrientos, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss prospects for cooperation in the field of civil aviation and a number of files and topics of mutual interest.
 
The meeting was attended by Eng. Amr Nagaty, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Ms. Lamia Sami, Director General of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. El-Hefny welcomed the Venezuelan Ambassador and his delegation, expressing his sincere condolences to the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the victims of the earthquake that struck the country.
 
The meeting addressed updates on the draft air transport agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the necessary procedures for its completion, which will contribute to establishing a regulatory framework that supports the development of air traffic and enhances air connectivity between the two countries.
 
Dr. Sameh El-Hefny affirmed the Ministry of Civil Aviation's commitment to providing all necessary support and coordination to Venezuelan airlines, in accordance with applicable rules and procedures.
 
This aims to facilitate their operations, enhance opportunities for operating flights between the two countries, and bolster travel, tourism, and trade.
 
For his part, Ambassador Wilmer Omar Barrientos expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm welcome, emphasizing the importance of the relations between Egypt and Venezuela and his country's keenness to continue developing them across various fields.
 
The Venezuelan Ambassador indicated that his country is focusing on revitalizing tourism and strengthening its ties with Middle Eastern countries in the coming period.
 
He also explained that Venezuela places great importance on developing air transport, which will contribute to increased travel and open new avenues for cooperation and air connectivity with Egypt.
