CAIRO - 13 August 2026: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance joint efforts to promote investment opportunities in Egypt's petroleum and mining sectors, particularly in light of preparations for the Egypt Mining Forum scheduled for September 2026.

The meeting addressed mechanisms for promoting investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector and ways to diversify and maximize the utilization of natural resources.

The two ministers emphasized the importance of promoting the upcoming Egypt Mining Forum, scheduled for September 2026 in the New Administrative Capital, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The forum will bring together leaders from the mining sector, investors, and Egyptian and international companies, providing a vital platform to showcase promising investment opportunities in oil and gas exploration and production to global companies operating in Egypt.

Minister Abdelatty also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with regional and international partners in the energy sector, which will contribute to consolidating Egypt's position as a regional hub.

Egypt aims to facilitate energy trading and development, leveraging its strategic geographic location, advanced infrastructure, logistical capabilities, and specialized facilities. The Minister also emphasized the importance of enhancing the exchange of expertise and experiences with energy-producing nations in research, exploration, and production, and employing the latest technologies in exploring and utilizing natural resources. This, he noted, will boost the sector's competitiveness and attract further foreign investment.

For his part, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, affirmed that the Egypt Mining Forum is an extension of intensive efforts to promote Egypt's significant mineral wealth and opportunities. He explained that the Ministry has worked to create a conducive investment environment in the mining sector, develop legislation, implement reforms, and offer investment incentives. These efforts aim to maximize the utilization of Egypt's mineral resources and increase mining's contribution to the national GDP.

He also stressed the importance of collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote investment opportunities and incentives in the oil, gas, and mining sectors internationally through the Ministry's diligent diplomatic efforts. He pointed out that these efforts also support petroleum sector companies specializing in project implementation, maintenance, and infrastructure development, enabling them to expand into new markets outside Egypt.
