Firefighters control fire at restaurant inside New Cairo mall; 2 dead, 12 injured

CAIRO – 13 August 2026: Civil defense personnel have successfully controlled a fire that broke out at a restaurant inside a commercial mall in the New Cairo area. Cooling operations are currently underway to secure the site.

 

The fire, which was triggered by a gas cylinder explosion, resulted in two fatalities and left twelve others injured. Emergency services promptly transported the injured to a local hospital for treatment.

 

The emergency operations room initially received reports from local residents regarding a fire inside the facility. Fire crews and emergency vehicles were immediately dispatched to the scene, quickly surrounding and extinguishing the flames.

Local prosecution authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the explosion.
