Turkey FM: Cooperation with Egypt is progressing at an excellent level, contributing regional peace

CAIRO – 14 August 2026:  Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that his recent visit to Egypt provided a crucial opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation—which he described as progressing at an excellent level—as well as ongoing regional developments.

In a post published on the X platform, Fidan expressed his gratitude to Egyptian officials, extending special thanks to his "dear colleague and brother," Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, for their warm hospitality.

"During the visit, my colleague and I had the honor of co-chairing the second meeting of the Turkey-Egypt Joint Planning Group," Fidan wrote. "I also met with the head of the Egyptian general intelligence service, Hassan Rashad, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy."

He added: “We signed agreements aimed at boosting our bilateral trade, diversifying our economic relations, and strengthening ties between our countries. Turkey and Egypt are two great nations acting with full awareness of the responsibilities history and geography impose upon them.”

The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that deepening bilateral relations benefits both nations while advancing broader stability.

“Strengthening cooperation between our two countries not only serves the common interests of our peoples but also contributes to establishing peace and stability in our region,” Fidan noted. “Based on this understanding and guided by the visions of our two presidents, we will continue to work side by side and deepen our relations on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests.”
