CAIRO – 15 August 2026: The first Air Cairo flight departed from El Alamein International Airport for Moscow, Russia, on Saturday, carrying 176 passengers and launching a new direct air route between the Egyptian coastal city and the Russian capital.

The launch marks a significant expansion of El Alamein International Airport’s international flight network and strengthens its connectivity with key global destinations.

At the airport’s departure lounges, the Public Relations and Media Department of the Egyptian Airports Company welcomed passengers and coordinated with the relevant departments to facilitate their travel arrangements. The efforts helped ensure a smooth and efficient passenger experience from arrival at the airport through to boarding.

The new route expands travel options for residents and visitors to El Alamein and the North Coast, while providing a direct link to Moscow. It is also expected to support travel and tourism between Egypt and Russia and further strengthen El Alamein International Airport’s role as an important gateway connecting the region with international markets.

The launch is in line with the Egyptian Airports Company’s strategy, under the leadership of Captain Wael El-Nashar, to enhance the competitiveness of its airports, expand air connectivity, and attract additional international airlines and destinations. The strategy aims to support the growth of air traffic and tourism while keeping pace with the rapid development taking place in El Alamein and the wider North Coast region.
