Kushner, Gaza mediators discuss Phase Two of Trump plan

CAIRO - 16 August 2026: Peace Council member Jared Kushner met with ceasefire mediators and High Representative for Gaza Nikolay Mladenov on Sunday to discuss accelerating the implementation of Phase Two of the Trump administration's plan.

The meeting involved mediators from Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, who reaffirmed their support for U.S. efforts aimed at establishing stability and calm in the Gaza Strip.

During the talks, the mediators warned against any attempts to undermine the progress achieved so far in executing the decisions of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.

According to a January statement by Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's Envoy, Phase Two "establishes a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration in Gaza, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), and begins the full demilitarization and reconstruction of Gaza, primarily the disarmament of all unauthorized personnel."
